How to Make Your FWA Awards Nomination Shine

Tips to Help You Submit a Stand-Out Entry

The FWA Awards celebrate the people, spaces and ideas shaping the future of our industry. From operators leading the charge on innovation, to community managers building inclusive environments, to beautifully designed workspaces—these awards are your chance to showcase excellence.

But how do you make your nomination stand out to the judging panel?

Here are five tips to help you craft a submission that’s authentic, compelling and award-worthy.

1. Start With the Why: What’s Your Story?

Judges are drawn to stories that demonstrate passion, purpose, and real-world impact. Think about the problem you were solving, what drove your approach and what changed as a result.

This is your chance to bring your entry to life—show us the people behind the project and the journey you took. Be specific. Be proud.

2. Show Us the Impact—Not Just the Intention

Outcomes matter. Where possible, include data, testimonials, or real examples that support your success.

Whether it’s a spike in member retention, a measurable improvement in sustainability, or a positive cultural shift—make it clear how your work made a difference.

3. Tailor Your Nomination to the Category

Each award category has unique criteria. Take time to read them and tailor your responses accordingly. If you’re applying for the *Excellence in Sustainability Award*, focus on environmental practices. If you’re nominating for *Community Manager of the Year*, show how relationships and member experience were prioritised.

The most successful entries stay tightly aligned with the intent of the category.

4. Let Your Voice Shine—Not Just AI’s

We know AI can be helpful when crafting submissions, especially when you’re short on time. We encourage you to use it strategically—to sharpen your responses, structure your ideas, or polish your grammar.

But judges want to hear your voice and see your unique perspective. Overly polished, generic entries created entirely by AI won’t stand out. Use these tools to support your storytelling, not replace it.

5. Don’t Be Afraid to Celebrate Your Wins

This isn’t the time to be humble. You’ve done great work—share it! If you’re proud of your team culture, the transformation of your space, or your contribution to the sector, let that enthusiasm come through.
Nominate yourself, your team, your space, or someone you admire. Your story could inspire others and help shape the future of flexible work in Australia.
